## Scheduling is the center of the product

Motion is a work management application that treats a calendar as the output of planning. Its documentation says that the user adds tasks, deadlines, and priorities, then Motion schedules work into available calendar time and adjusts the schedule as work changes. The practical inputs are detailed. The scheduler considers availability, task duration, deadlines, priority, and changes such as a newly added meeting. [The guide to automatic scheduling](https://www.usemotion.com/help/time-management/auto-scheduling.md) says tasks can be chunked into smaller blocks when a user defines chunking rules, and that recurring work can be scheduled ahead of individual work in some cases.

This is more than a task list with a calendar view. Motion says it automatically moves work when a conflict appears, and its published hierarchy distinguishes ASAP work, hard deadlines, flexible due dates, priority, duration, start dates, and recurrence. A buyer should therefore expect to supply estimates and calendar availability, then review the schedule Motion produces. The homepage also describes project generation, status updates, calendar scheduling, meeting notes, documents, search, and workflow creation as parts of the same application. [Its product page](https://www.usemotion.com/) says the system makes a plan from task priorities, dependencies, deadlines, durations, and user preferences.

## The paid plans use seats and credits

Motion publishes two self serve plans. Pro AI is for professionals and small teams, and Business AI is for power users and businesses with complex needs. The pricing page shows the month to month rate only after the billing control is switched to monthly: Pro AI is $29 per seat per month and Business AI is $49 per seat per month. With annual billing selected, the same page shows $19 and $29 per seat per month, respectively, and labels the switch “[Pay annually (Save 33%)](https://www.usemotion.com/pricing).”

The published plan difference is not only price. Pro AI includes 7,500 credits per seat each month, while Business AI includes 15,000 and adds capacity planning, advanced dashboards and reports, Gantt charts, time tracking, permissions and access control, central billing, and priority business support. The page separately lists 25 cents per 100 credits for Pro AI and 19 cents per 100 credits for Business AI. That means a buyer should account for the recurring seat charge and the credit allowance, rather than treating the allowance as the price. Motion offers a free trial, but its public pricing page does not show an ongoing free plan.

## Calendars and API workflows connect Motion to other tools

Motion connects to Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, and iCloud Calendar. According to its [calendar integration guide](https://www.usemotion.com/help/time-management/all-things-calendars/reference-all-things-calendars/integration-and-permissions.md), users choose which accounts and calendars to connect. Read permission lets Motion display existing events, while write permission lets it create and update events. Tasks can also appear in an external calendar for visibility, although the guide says external edits do not change the Motion task.

The vendor also documents a public API for developers and Zapier for nontechnical workflow connections. Its [integration reference](https://www.usemotion.com/help/settings/integrations/reference-integrations.md) describes email forwarding and Siri task creation alongside API and Zapier workflows. Motion’s Activity Feed is documented as a log of task and project changes, including system triggered changes and API actions. The reviewed documentation does not describe an MCP server or outbound webhook endpoints, so those integration patterns should not be assumed from the API claim alone.

## Security material names a SOC 2 audit and United States storage

Motion identifies its operator as NexusBird, Inc, doing business as Motion, and says it completed a [SOC 2 Type II audit](https://www.usemotion.com/security). Its security page says customer data is hosted on Google Cloud Platform, encrypted at rest and in transit, and stored in Google’s Central 1 region in Iowa. The same page expressly says data is not stored in the European Union and that a customer cannot request European Union only storage.

The vendor’s AI security policy says Motion does not and will not train AI models using customer data, and says named LLM providers do not use inputs or outputs to train or improve their models. There is an important policy distinction to review with Motion: the [privacy policy](https://www.usemotion.com/legal/privacy-policy) also lists “Training and developing machine learning algorithms” among purposes for collected information. The pages do not explain how that broad privacy statement relates to the narrower AI model statement. The privacy policy says personal information is retained for the life of the account and up to one year after account deletion unless the user requests earlier deletion.

## Subscription cancellation is documented in the product and terms

The public site directs prospective users to a trial, and the [terms](https://www.usemotion.com/legal/terms-of-service) say a paid subscription begins when the trial expires. The terms say a subscriber must cancel before the next subscription term starts and remains able to use the subscription through the end of the current term. Motion also publishes [step by step cancellation instructions](https://www.usemotion.com/help/motion-support/cancel-your-plan.md) for individual, team administrator, account billing, and Apple in app subscriptions.

The cancellation instructions do not promise a refund. They say cancellation does not automatically trigger one, and the terms state purchases are nonrefundable unless Motion decides otherwise. For a team, the helpful distinction is that a team administrator can manage team billing while a nonadministrator seeking an individual plan is directed to support. The terms name Nexusbird, Inc as the service provider and describe the service as websites, mobile applications, related software, documentation, and online services.
