## Planning agents work on governed business models

Pigment is a cloud planning product that brings finance, sales, HR, and supply chain planning into the same environment. Its [Modeler Agent](https://www.pigment.com/ai/modeler-agent) takes a natural language request, proposes a plan, generates model components, and can refine the model later. The [Analyst Agent](https://www.pigment.com/ai/analyst-agent) starts from a question in a model, creates a report, and can save it as a recurring mission that updates automatically. This is planning software with AI actions inside the modeling environment, rather than a general chat interface detached from financial models.

The [Planner Agent](https://www.pigment.com/ai) is presented as a scenario planning agent that would make recommendations from business context, but the same page labels it "Coming soon." A buyer should distinguish the available Modeler and Analyst functions from that announced component.

## MCP exposes planning data and model changes to assistants

The [Pigment MCP Server](https://www.pigment.com/ai/mcp-server) connects the platform to assistants including ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, and Codex. The vendor says those tools can query live Pigment data and build or edit models, with changes landing under the existing permissions and logic. This is more than a read only search connector.

The controls are material for finance data. Pigment says each MCP session is authenticated through enterprise identity, access is scoped by role, model, or metric, and administrators approve both the assistants that connect and the sources that Pigment agents can reach. Its Agent Connectors can read from [Notion, Google Drive, and Slack](https://www.pigment.com/ai/mcp-server), so the boundary of a deployment includes those approved external sources as well as the Pigment workspace.

## The public entry point is a limited trial, not self service buying

Pigment publishes a [14 day trial](https://www.pigment.com/trial/sign-up) with no credit card. It creates a private workspace where a user can describe a budget, forecast, or revenue model and try data upload, scenarios, collaboration, and the AI model creation experience. The vendor names limits on data storage, calculation capacity, and AI credits. After day 14, the workspace becomes read only.

No public paid rate, seat basis, or contract term is published on the reviewed vendor pages. The trial FAQ explicitly says purchasing is not self service and directs a buyer to contact Pigment's team to continue. That leaves paid pricing, commitment length, cancellation terms, and whether particular integration or governance capabilities are separately priced for a commercial discussion.

## Security materials name certifications, controls, and regional storage

Pigment's [security page](https://www.pigment.com/security) names SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001 certifications, SAML SSO, SCIM provisioning, role based access controls, and an Audit Trail API. Customer data can be placed in Frankfurt or Oregon, with an additional S3NS option described for French or European sovereign hosting. The [SSO documentation](https://kb.pigment.com/docs/configure-single-sign-on-sso-pigment) says SAML 2.0 SSO is available on all tiers, though enabling it involves Pigment Support.

The [security terms](https://www.pigment.com/msa/security-terms) say that customer data is deleted from production three months after contract termination, or immediately on request. Separately, the platform privacy policy says its AI service sub-processors use zero data retention. Pigment also states that customer data is not used to train AI models. The public terms provide a six hour recovery time objective and a 24 hour recovery point objective, but do not publish a Pigment uptime percentage or service credit schedule.

## The product is run by a French planning software company

Pigment says it was [founded in 2019](https://www.pigment.com/about-us) by Eléonore Crespo and Romain Niccoli, who are listed as co CEOs in Paris. Its platform privacy policy identifies the operating entity as [Pigment SAS](https://www.pigment.com/pigment-platform-privacy-and-data-protection-policy), a French company registered in Paris. The company describes its current users as finance, sales, and HR teams, while the product pages also cover supply chain planning.

The practical fit is a team that already has planning models and business systems to connect, and wants agents to create models, analyze variance, report results, or expose governed data to an existing AI assistant. It is a weaker fit for an individual seeking a low cost self service chatbot, or for a buyer who needs a published price and contract before a sales conversation.
