The real question isn't "which AI design tool" — it's which job you're outsourcing

"AI design agent" covers two jobs that have almost nothing in common. One is turning a stack of bullet points into a deck or document that looks like someone spent an afternoon on it. The other is turning a product photo into ad creative, or a prompt into a working interface. A team without a designer usually needs one of these, not both, and the tools that win each job are different enough that comparing them on one table would be dishonest. So this is two comparisons, not one.

Decks and documents: Gamma vs. Beautiful.ai

If the job is "make this look professional without hiring anyone," it comes down to these two. Both generate a first draft from a prompt or outline, both auto-layout the slides so you're not dragging text boxes, and both sell a paid tier mainly on removing branding and unlocking more generation.

Gamma is the cheaper way in and the more flexible tool: the same credit-based engine also produces websites, documents, and social posts, not just slide decks. Its ladder is Free ($0), Plus ($9/seat/month, $108 billed annually), Pro ($18/seat/month, $216 annually), and Ultra ($90/seat/month, $1,080 annually) — confirmed on Gamma's own pricing page today (gamma.app/pricing). Plus removes Gamma's branding and raises the credit allowance to 1,000/month; Pro adds premium AI image models, custom branding, and API access with 4,000 credits; Ultra is built for heavy, continuous generation at 20,000 credits and access to the most advanced underlying models. For a single person who mostly needs on-brand decks without a watermark, Plus at $9/month is the cheapest credible seat in this entire comparison.

Beautiful.ai is narrower — presentations only — and priced for the moment a second person needs to touch the deck. Pro is $14.50/month per individual billed annually. Team is $40/user/month billed annually (or $50/month without the annual commitment) for 2 to 20 seats, and it's the plan that actually matters for a small team: it adds real-time collaborative editing, a shared slide and template library, locked/branded themes, and viewer analytics, none of which exist on the single-seat Pro tier. Beautiful.ai also sells a flat-rate SMB plan for larger seat counts and a $45 one-off "ad hoc project" month for a team that needs exactly one deck done well and doesn't want a subscription (confirmed on beautiful.ai/pricing today).

The decision is about who else needs access. A solo founder or consultant building their own pitch decks gets more for less from Gamma's Plus tier, plus the side benefit that the same subscription makes websites and one-off documents. A team of three to twenty people who all need to pull from the same branded template library, with version control so nobody overwrites someone else's slide, is paying for something Gamma's individual-seat tiers don't offer at any price — that's what Beautiful.ai's Team plan is actually selling. Gamma is listed at agentsindex.ai/gamma; Beautiful.ai at agentsindex.ai/beautiful-ai.

Product images and ad creative: three tools competing on the same credit math

A second, unrelated buyer shows up under "AI design agent": a small ecommerce or marketing team that needs product photography and ad creative without hiring a photographer or an agency. Three tools in our data compete directly here, and because they all price by credit, they're one of the rare cases where you can actually put the cost per image side by side.

ToolEntry subscriptionCost per generated asset at entry tierWhat you're buying
ProductShot AI$9.90/mo billed annually ($118.80/yr), or $19.90/mo billed monthly — 800 credits/mo~$1.24 per 100 credits; a standard image costs well under $1Product photos, marketplace images, studio scenes
AIProductAds$19.90/mo billed monthly, or $191.04/yr billed annually (effectively $15.92/mo) — 200 credits/mo~$0.80 per 5-second entry-resolution video ad clipVideo and image ad creative from product photos
AdCreative.ai$39/month, 10 credits/mo, 1 brand1 credit per downloaded creative — $3.90 per download at entry tierAd creatives, product photoshoots, and video ads tied to brand/performance data

Confirmed today against each vendor's own pricing page: ProductShot AI's Starter tier and credit math at productshotai.app/pricing; AIProductAds' Starter tier at aiproductads.app/pricing; AdCreative.ai's $39 Starter plan (10 credits, 1 brand) embedded in its pricing page markup at adcreative.ai.

AdCreative.ai is the most expensive per asset by a wide margin, and that's the point of the tool, not a flaw in it: the credit only charges when you download, generation itself is unlimited, and the product is built around linking your ad accounts to compare your creative against category benchmarks and flag ad fatigue — a layer of performance data the other two don't attempt. If what you need is volume — a steady feed of listing photos or short video ads at the lowest cost per unit — ProductShot AI and AIProductAds are both built for that job and AdCreative.ai is the wrong tool at any price. If what you need is a smaller number of creatives vetted against real ad performance, the premium buys something real.

One adjacent tool worth naming for a narrower job: ReWords AI doesn't generate images, it edits text inside images you already have — useful for a team that needs to swap a price or a headline on an existing creative without regenerating the whole asset or opening Photoshop. Its Professional tier runs $8.33/month billed annually ($99.99/yr) or $16.67/month billed monthly, for 420–5,040 standard-resolution edits a year (rewordsai.app/pricing, confirmed today). It solves a real but much smaller problem than the three generators above — add it to the stack, don't pick it instead of them.

What "AI design agent" does not mean here: app and UI builders are a different purchase

Vercel's v0, Bolt.new, Lovable, and Replit get called design tools because they produce a visual interface from a prompt, and all four are genuinely useful for a team without a designer who needs a working app, not a static mockup. But they're sold and priced as developer/builder tools, not design tools: v0 bills per token through Vercel's platform rather than a flat seat price (Mini at $0.20/1M input tokens up to Max Fast at $10/1M, per v0.dev/pricing); Bolt.new and Lovable both start at $25/month for credit-metered AI usage; Replit's Core plan is $20/month ($18 billed annually). None of them replace Gamma or Beautiful.ai for a deck, and none of them replace the image generators for product photography — they're the right comparison if your actual need is "build us a working prototype," which is a software decision, not a design one. (Bolt.new pricing at bolt.new/pricing; Lovable at lovable.dev/pricing; Replit at replit.com/pricing.)

The pick, if you only read one paragraph

For decks: start with Gamma's Plus tier at $9/seat/month if you're one or two people, move to Beautiful.ai's Team plan at $40/user/month the moment a third person needs shared, version-controlled access to the same template library. For product and ad imagery: default to ProductShot AI or AIProductAds for volume at the lowest cost per asset, and only pay AdCreative.ai's premium once you're ready to use its ad-performance comparison data, not before. Don't shop app builders (v0, Bolt, Lovable, Replit) against either group — they answer a different question.
