Anaplan

Anaplan presents itself as scenario planning and analysis infrastructure, not as a general chat assistant. Its platform overview says that AI, data, and planning converge in one platform, and describes a mix of deterministic calculations, connected data, workflows, and role-based agents. The AI material separates the product into predictive, generative, and agentic capabilities. It also ties the product to finance, supply chain, retail planning, sales, operations, and workforce planning. That scope matters because the agents work against planning models and the business context attached to them. Anaplan says its deterministic calculation engines are combined with LLM intelligence to return auditable answers. The published material does not represent the service as a general-purpose model API or an application-development environment.

The Intelligence page names Finance, Supply Chain, Sales, and Workforce Analysts, alongside CoModeler. Analyst is presented as a self-service assistant embedded in Anaplan for querying business data, understanding drivers, and informing decisions. CoModeler has a different audience: it works in the modeling experience, where Anaplan says it can generate structures, refine formulas, apply practices, deploy models, and maintain documentation. Agent Studio documentation says only users with the AI Admin role can access its configuration environment. It also says Analyst access should be preceded by a review of model roles, model access, selective access, and Dynamic Cell Access. The newer Analyst configuration can be switched on for an application without further configuration, but administration and underlying planning permissions remain part of deployment.

The API documentation lists public interfaces for data movement, model actions, financial consolidation, identity management, CloudWorks, lifecycle management, audit events, authentication, and tenant administration. Data Orchestrator also has documented import connectors for systems including Salesforce, SAP, Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, S3, Azure Blob Storage, and several databases. These are routes into Anaplan data preparation and models, rather than proof of identical writeback behavior for every connector. For assistant access, AI Gateway offers a governed MCP interface. The page names Claude, Gemini, and Microsoft Copilot as examples, applies existing Anaplan permissions to requests, and states that initial access is read-only. It also says the gateway captures timestamped tool calls and key usage details, with throttling and rate limits for consumption management.

The security documentation states that data in transit uses HTTPS with TLS 1.2 as the minimum supported version, while data at rest uses AES-256 full-disk encryption. It names SOC reports, the Data Privacy Framework, Cloud Security Alliance STAR, and ISO 27001, 27017, 27018, and 27701. SAML SSO is supported through self-service configuration. Audit is not universal: the tenant auditor guide requires both an Audit license and an assigned tenant auditor role, and states that logs are retained for up to 30 or 90 days depending on edition. The published availability SLA sets a 99.5 percent uptime target per calendar month when an executed agreement explicitly references that SLA.

Anaplan does not publish a standard rate card in the material reviewed. Its subscription agreement defines the subscription period through an Order Schedule and treats Anaplan pricing information as confidential. The same agreement says fees are based on the service purchased in an Order Schedule rather than actual usage, and that payment obligations are non-cancelable unless the agreement says otherwise. It allows no-charge Evaluation Services only when Anaplan invites a client, says they are not for production use, and generally limits them to six months. On exit, the agreement provides a 30-day post-termination period in which a reasonable number of authorized users may retrieve Client Data. It says Anaplan then deletes the account and Client Data from its site unless law prohibits deletion. The agreement was last updated in 2017, so a buyer should compare these public terms with the Order Schedule and current agreement offered for signature.
