Gong uses captured interactions as revenue data
Gong is a revenue AI system centered on the material produced by customer interactions. Its AI page says it captures and analyzes calls, emails, and meetings, combines those signals with CRM and other first and third party sources, then provides insights, task automation, and guidance. The product is therefore more than a call recorder. It uses interaction data for pipeline review, forecast work, coaching, outreach, and account context. Its public positioning places the platform across sales, marketing, enablement, customer success, and revenue operations rather than in one team’s meeting workflow. Gong’s description of how its AI works is specific about the input sources and the resulting analysis.
The agents range from analysis to CRM action
Gong separates its agent catalog by revenue workflow. The public agents page describes the AI Data Extractor as listening to calls and emails, identifying account and deal details, and filling CRM fields without rep input. Other named agents create briefs, identify themes, assess calls, score deal likelihood, predict revenue, and suggest tasks. Custom Agents can be created in Agent Builder with natural language and may be run manually or automated on defined events, conditions, and actions. The help center also says agents can be configured by business administrators in Agent Studio. These capabilities make configuration and permissions central to the purchase, particularly where CRM updates or automated activity are involved. The agent catalog and Agent Studio documentation describe the available functions.
The commercial model is a sales proposal, not a rate card
Gong publishes the components of its pricing model, not a price list. Licenses are priced per user, there is a platform fee related to the number of users supported, and the company offers a customized proposal. A buyer can use its existing technology stack without an integration charge according to the pricing page, but the public material does not say what the software subscription or platform fee costs. Gong’s standard terms also matter after purchase. Unless an order form says otherwise, subscriptions renew for one year unless written notice is given at least 60 days before term end. Payment obligations are noncancelable and fees nonrefundable under the standard terms. The pricing page and the terms should both be reviewed against the proposed order form.
Data controls include retention, export, and regional options
Gong documents configurable retention, deletion, access controls, and an export path. Its standard retention period is the shorter of three years and the customer relationship, while a technical administrator can turn on the policy for company library calls. Calls in the company library are otherwise not deleted automatically after three years. On departure, the standard terms say a customer can request export or download of customer data, including recorded calls, within 30 days of termination or expiration. The buying FAQ says the default data region is the United States and that an EU option can be requested for AWS Frankfurt. The publicly described arrangement is SaaS hosting. A self hosted deployment is not established in the pages reviewed. See the retention policy, the termination clause, and the residency FAQ.
Enterprise controls are documented with one uptime qualification
Gong publishes a broad set of enterprise controls. Its security documentation describes SAML 2.0 and OpenID Connect support, SCIM provisioning, granular permission profiles, an Audit API, encryption, redaction, and customer selected retention. The trust page lists SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, ISO 42001, ISO 27017, ISO 27018, and ISO 27701 among its credentials. Gong also states that customer data is never used to train generative AI models. The same trust page says it delivers 99.5% uptime, but the public standard terms state that Gong cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error free service. That distinction leaves no public SLA text on the pages cited here. Security controls, trust details, and terms provide the supporting statements.

Free tier
There is no self-serve sign-up, free plan or published trial; the pricing page routes every buyer through a team-size form and a custom proposal.
We’d love to prepare a customized proposal for you! Simply fill out the form to get started.

Self-serve signup
Starting requires a customized proposal, and subscription tasks require assistance from a Revenue Architect.

Works with
Any Gong plan can manage integrations, with documented connectors for Slack, Tonkean, Workato, Zapier, and Zendesk.
Available on: Any Gong plan
Public API
A documented public REST API covers calls, transcripts, users, stats and permission profiles, with Basic or OAuth credentials and published rate limits.
The Gong API is available to all partners and customers
MCP server
Gong runs a read-only MCP server on any plan exposing ask_account, ask_deal and generate_brief, enabled per AI client by a tech admin and metered in credits.
The Gong MCP server exposes Gong insights to external AI systems.
Acts on its own
Automated agents fire on CRM changes, dates or tracker hits and run their actions without a person, but that builder is labeled BETA and on-demand agents still need a human to run them.
Automated agents run a sequence of actions when a defined trigger fires.
Limits on what it may do
Agent work is bounded by Gong's permission model: creating or running automated agents needs a named permission, and the MCP surface agents query is read-only.
The MCP server is read-only and does not create, update, or delete data in Gong or the CRM. Private calls are excluded from all results.
No code needed
Agent Builder accepts natural-language configuration, and Gong says Agent Studio requires no technical resources for agent configuration.
Make an agent in natural language, run it manually whenever, or automate it based on defined events, conditions, and actions.
No training on your data
No opt-out is needed because the default is exclusion: Gong states customer data never trains generative models and outputs stay inside the tenant's own data environment.
Your data is never used to train generative AI models, and it’s never shared with or exposed to the public domain.

Retention you control
A technical administrator can set the company retention policy and explicitly apply it to company library calls.
To apply the retention policy to calls in the company library too... toggle on Apply retention policy to calls stored in library.
Data stays in your region
An admin chooses a US or EU data center at company level, and EU-stored instances process and store communications data in the EU with documented dialer limits.
When your Gong instance is configured in the EU data center, communications data is processed and stored within the EU.
Self-hosted
Gong is delivered only as a cloud SaaS application on the vendor's AWS infrastructure; the choice a buyer gets is the US or EU data center, not their own.
Gong is a SaaS application hosted in cloud infrastructure.
Take your data out
Export is well served through the API, Data Cloud and CRM exports, and deletion is bounded at 30 days after termination, but purchased credits are forfeited at term end.
Purchased credits: Additional credits bought separately and available until the end of the contract term. Purchased credits do not roll over into a…
Security audits
Gong names SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, ISO 42001, ISO 27017, ISO 27018, and ISO 27701 certifications.

Single sign-on
SAML 2.0, OIDC and OAuth 2.0 are all supported with named IdPs, alongside SCIM provisioning and configurable SAML session timeouts.
Gong also supports SAML 2.0-based SSO, OAuth 2.0 authorization, and OpenID Connect, including Okta, OneLogin, Rippling, and custom providers.
Audit log
An Audit API emits JSON covering both customer personnel activity and Gong staff access to your data, for feeding an existing SIEM; agent runs sit outside it.
The Gong Audit API can be used to generate this data in standard JSON format, which can be used to feed your existing security monitoring tools.
Uptime promise
Gong publishes 99.5% uptime, while its standard terms disclaim any guarantee of uninterrupted or error-free service.
