It is an agent platform with a helpdesk in the same product
Chatbase positions itself as a platform for customer-facing agents rather than a web widget alone. Its homepage says agents work across chat, email, and voice to resolve issues end to end, while its product overview groups knowledge, instructions, procedures, custom APIs, widgets, human involvement, and helpdesk functions in one system. The build flow starts with sources, an agent role, and guardrails. The vendor says teams can test real customer scenarios before launch and deploy across chat, WhatsApp, email, Slack, and other channels.
The agent can follow procedures written in plain English. The procedures page says users add conditions, lookups, and actions, then the agent follows them the same way every time. The examples cover lead qualification, demo booking, order status lookups, returns, subscription cancellation, and support escalation. This makes the product broader than a static FAQ bot, while still centering the customer conversation.
Human support remains part of the operating model
Chatbase offers two handoff patterns. A live handoff brings a person into the conversation with the thread, while asynchronous ticket creation lets the agent keep chatting as a teammate follows up. The helpdesk page says the agent creates a ticket with the full conversation attached. Its own inbox supports assignments, notes, mentions, full history, statuses, routing, tags, and CSAT reporting.
A team can also keep an existing helpdesk. Chatbase names Zendesk, Salesforce, Freshdesk, Intercom, Zoho Desk, HubSpot, Help Scout, Gorgias, and Odoo as native integrations. The public pricing cards divide integrations into basic and advanced, but the helpdesk page does not map each named integration to a specific tier. That plan boundary should be confirmed before selecting a plan for a required system.
Pricing starts with message-credit subscriptions
The least expensive paid route is Hobby at $40 per month when the pricing control is set to monthly. It includes 700 message credits each month. The same card showed $32 per month when billed yearly, alongside the vendor’s 20% off statement. Basic is listed at $150 monthly with 4,000 message credits, and Business at $500 monthly with 15,000 credits. Enterprise is custom priced.
There is a real limit to plan around: message credits. The visible allowances create a fixed ceiling rather than an outcome charge, and no public per-resolution cost is stated. Chatbase exposes a seven-day trial for its published paid tiers. Separately, its terms say cancellation or nonrenewal downgrades the customer to a reduced-feature Free Version. The vendor does not state that free version’s allowance on the public pages reviewed.
Enterprise controls cover access, logs, and uptime
Enterprise is where Chatbase places organization-wide controls. The enterprise page lists SAML single sign-on, granular roles and permissions, audit logs, and a 99.9% uptime guarantee. Its activity trail is described as filterable and records who changed what and when. The page also says Enterprise plans include a formal SLA for support response and resolution commitments. These are not described as standard features of Hobby, Basic, or Business.
On data handling, the security page states that connected data is not used to train models. Chatbase says it is SOC 2 Type II compliant, supports GDPR requirements, and offers HIPAA-eligible Enterprise workspaces. The published DPA gives customers a return or deletion choice and says customer personal data must be deleted within thirty days of a written deletion request or termination, including remaining copies and backups subject to legal retention requirements. The privacy policy places processing and storage in the United States, but does not describe a buyer-selected data residency option.
